About the Artist

Hanna Chekodanova is a Ukrainian artist dedicated to preserving and developing Petrykivka painting — a unique form of folk decorative art recognized by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Born and raised in Ukraine, Hanna has been passionate about painting and traditional crafts since childhood. Her artistic journey is rooted in deep cultural respect and inspired by a desire to reinterpret centuries-old traditions through a modern lens. After moving to the United States, she set a clear mission: to introduce Petrykivka to the global art scene.

Her paintings are a vibrant symphony of colors, symbols, and stories. Floral motifs, birds of fantasy, and natural elements come together in intricate compositions created with precision and grace — each piece a tribute to Ukrainian identity and beauty.

Today, Hanna:

  • Regularly exhibits her work in the U.S.
  • Is a proud member of the Plano Art Association
  • Hosts art workshops for children and adults
  • Is an award-winning artist, including receiving the Grand Prix at the 2024 “EuroSpring” international competition
  • In April 2025, Hanna Chekodanova Wins Grand Prix at Prague International Exhibition

Through her art, Hanna serves as a cultural ambassador — sharing the richness of Ukrainian visual heritage and the timeless elegance of Petrykivka painting with the world.
