On April 6, 2025, artist Hanna Chekodanova, known for her exceptional work in the traditional Ukrainian style of Petrykivka painting, was awarded First Prize and the Grand Prix at the III International Talent Competition “EuroSpring.”
This international event brought together talented artists from around the world, celebrating various forms of decorative and applied arts. The recognition of Hanna’s work by the competition jury highlights her mastery of a rare and culturally significant technique.
Petrykivka painting is recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Today, only a limited number of artists in the world possess authentic knowledge of this technique — and Hanna Chekodanova is among them.
Now based in Texas, USA, Hanna is not only preserving this artistic tradition but also actively promoting it through exhibitions and workshops, bridging cultures and introducing American audiences to Ukraine’s rich visual heritage.
