Petrykivka Among Contemporary Art in Plano
On March 1, 2025, during the monthly exhibition of the Plano Art Association (PAA), Ukrainian artist Hanna Chekodanova presented her works in the traditional Petrykivka painting style — a unique form of Ukrainian decorative art inscribed on UNESCO’s List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Plano Art Association is a creative community with over 50 years of history, actively supporting local artists and promoting visual arts education through exhibitions, workshops, and art events.
As an active member of PAA, Hanna’s participation in this exhibition was another important step in sharing Ukrainian culture with American audiences.
Her traditionally crafted paintings harmoniously blended into the modern gallery space, combining national depth with contemporary aesthetics.
This is a clear example of how folk art can live and inspire far beyond its homeland, opening new cultural horizons.
